About Photographic Lighting
Lighting has always been an essential part of the process for photography. From staging a shot to developing photos, a number of light bulbs may be used.
Cameras may use special flashlamps, while photofloods can be used to provide light to an area. Modeling bulbs are utilized to give an indication of the effect of a shot once the camera is fired and the flash goes off. Enlarger bulbs are used in enlargers, which produce prints from negatives.
Many of the photographic bulbs are still incandescent or halogen, due to their small form factor, high lumen output possibilities, and high color rendering. In many cases, LED has not yet caught up to these benefits of older lighting technology, although some brands like Soraa have equaled or surpassed the older technology in certain areas.
In addition, xenon flashlamps for cameras can come in a wide range of form factors, and may be UV-blocking or allow ultraviolet light to transmit through the bulb glass.
